Whether you arrived on a tourist visa or on a visa exemption stamp, you can usually extend your stay once at immigration. It buys you time, and time is often exactly what you need while you decide whether to move onto a long stay category.
It is also a strategic step. Extending your tourist stay can keep enough days on the clock to convert to a Non-Immigrant O later, which is a route that closes if you wait too long.
Think one step ahead
Most people extend because they want a few more weeks on the beach. The ones who plan ahead extend because they want to stay for years and know they need days in hand to convert.
Tell us your actual plan when you come in. If you are thinking about retiring here or you have a Thai partner, the extension is not the end of the conversation, it is the first move in a longer sequence.
Frequently asked questions
How many times can I extend?
The standard extension is granted once per entry. Beyond that you are looking at a border run, a new visa from a consulate, or a conversion to a different category. We will lay out which options your passport still supports.
Can I extend on the last day?
You can file before your stamp expires, but leaving it to the final day is risky, because a rejection on the day gives you no room to fix anything. Come to us a week or two early.
Stamp running out?
Send us a photo of your entry stamp on LINE. We will tell you today how many days you have, what you can extend to, and what it costs.
