Rental in Pattaya divides into two very different markets. Tourists pay daily rates at the beach road counters. Residents pay monthly rates that work out at a fraction of that, and most people do not realise the second market exists.
If you are here for more than a couple of weeks, ask us for the monthly rate rather than booking a daily one.
Check these before you rent from anyone
- Is there voluntary first class insurance, or only the compulsory minimum, which covers very little.
- What is the excess, and is it reduced if you pay a daily waiver.
- Is the tax sticker current, because driving an untaxed vehicle is your problem at a checkpoint, not the owner's.
- Does your licence class actually cover the vehicle, particularly for motorbikes.
- Photograph the vehicle from every angle before you drive away, including the wheels and the roof.
Frequently asked questions
Do you take a deposit?
Yes, and it varies by vehicle and rental length. We tell you the amount and the return conditions in writing before you take the keys.
Can I take the car to another province?
Generally yes, and we just ask that you tell us in advance so the insurance and roadside cover are aligned. Trips across a national border are a different conversation.
What if it breaks down?
Call us. Our vehicles are maintained locally and we can usually swap you into another one the same day, which is the main practical advantage of renting from a Pattaya company rather than a counter at the airport.
