The education visa is a legitimate route for people genuinely enrolled in a course, and it has been tightened considerably over the years precisely because it used to be abused as a cheap long stay. Immigration now takes attendance seriously and may test what you claim to have learned.
We will only put you on this route if you are actually going to study. If what you want is a long stay without classes, the DTV or another category will serve you better and will not put you in front of an officer asking you questions in Thai.
How it works
- You enrol with an accredited school and receive the enrolment documents immigration requires.
- You obtain the Non-Immigrant ED entry, abroad or by conversion if your current stamp allows.
- You extend your stay periodically for the duration of the course, with each extension supported by your attendance record.
Frequently asked questions
Can I work on an education visa?
No. Studying and working are different categories. If you need to earn while you are here, we should be discussing a work permit or a DTV instead.
Will I really be tested on my Thai?
It can happen at extension appointments, and it is the reason we ask clients to attend their classes. Treat the course as real and this route is comfortable. Treat it as a formality and it can become uncomfortable.
